KCS TraceME TM-3201 / P3D2

The KCS TraceME TM-3201/P3D2 is a compact, IP68-rated tracking module for industrial, transportation, and logistics applications — including container tracking, asset management, and remote diagnostics. It combines cellular, LoRa, GNSS, Wi-Fi, and beacon-based positioning with up to 10 years of standby battery life, making it suitable for long-term, low-maintenance IoT deployments across varied environments (-20°C to +70°C).

Key strengths: multi-technology indoor/outdoor positioning, offline data buffering (up to 60,000 log entries), tamper detection, and full over-the-air (OTA) reconfigurability — allowing one hardware platform to serve many use cases.

• Beacon (BLE/RF) triangulation: down to ~1.5 m, indoor/outdoor
• Wi-Fi sniffing (MAC/RSSI-based) and optional FSK signal-strength positioning

Cumulocity Integration

The device integrates with Cumulocity IoT via a custom MQTT-based integration,. MQTT protocol handling is offloaded to the onboard cellular modem, reducing firmware overhead and power consumption while leveraging the modem’s built-in connectivity stack.

Provisioning & Data Flow

1. Device is configured with Cumulocity tenant and MQTT connection settings.
2. It auto-connects and publishes: telemetry, location, alarms, and device status.

Remote Management

• Remote configuration of operating parameters
• Command execution from the Cumulocity platform
• OTA firmware and configuration updates

This architecture suits intermittently-connected, battery-powered deployments: the device wakes, transmits buffered data, and returns to sleep, minimizing airtime while remaining fully manageable through Cumulocity’s standard device model.
